Preamble:

India is an agrarian economy with 70% of its population dependent on agriculture. Over the years we have improved our agricultural production which has been a boon. But finding a market for the marketed surplus and getting fair prices have always been a major challenge. This clearly points out the need of agricultural marketing in the present times.

In current days of mass production and marketing which is being replaced by customer-based or market- driven strategies, an effective marketing extension service is the need of the hour. This has added significance in the light of post-WTO scenario. If the Indian farmers have to withstand the possible onslaught of international competitors, both in domestic as well as overseas markets, agricultural marketing services have to be strengthened.

The Government of India has considered improving the APMC Act to benefit all parties involved. In 2020, the Government of Karnataka passed the The Karnataka Agricultural Produce Marketing (Regulation and Development) (Amendment) Bill, 2020, which enables farmers to trade their produce anywhere without the intervention of APMCs.

The steps taken by the central Government and the state governments have encouraged many market operators to come out and participate in nation building in the form of providing marketing services to the farmers thereby increasing the farmers’ income by avoiding traditional middleman chain by directly linking the farmers with that of the ultimate consumers or reducing the Middlemen links in between.

Motivated by the Government’s best wishes in encouraging the farmers and to make use of the newly created opportunity Mr. Sagar Singh, an young and enthusiastic person has decided to trade in agricultural produce by using his social and business connection along with his mother Mrs. Shanthi Singh. For this he has incorporated a limited liability partnership firm.
